AI is Changing the Way Online Businesses Are Run: Here's How You Can Stay Ahead of the Curve
AI is revolutionizing the way online businesses operate, from web development and SEO to content creation and marketing. Here is what you can do to ensure your business stays competitive.
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming various industries, especially online businesses. From optimizing processes to enhancing customer experiences, AI is revolutionizing the way businesses operate in the digital landscape. To stay ahead of the curve, I am providing actionable steps and resources for different industries to prepare for AI integration.
First, you should know what NOT to do with AI. This can inhibit your website growth and could possibly be used to shadow ban your website or social media accounts. For any business, this could be devastating to traffic, advertising, and revenue.
What Not to Do with AI in your Business
In addition to the things to do with AI to jump-start your business, you should know what NOT to do. You could be causing a hindrance to your bottom line and not even know it.
Don’t rely solely on AI.
AI isn’t a replacement for human judgement, and it should be used in conjunction with human expertise and experience to ensure all content and decisions are valid and accurate. Also, a tool can be taken away at any time, you should be able to do the task without the AI or with another tool if absolutely necessary.
Don’t ignore ethical implications of AI.
Unfortunately, AI can be used for good and bad. Bad actors are out there using it to scam, mislead, and manipulate people as I write this. It is important to be aware of the ethical implications and use it in a responsible way. It is also important to know how it can be used in a malicious way and be able to spot the difference.
Don’t use generated AI content without editing.
When you spin up an article, headline, or any text really; the work isn’t done. You should be prepared to read through, edit, and add text that is relevant to you and your customers/audience. This will make the content more personalized, just think of the millions of other people using AI the same way.
Most people are lazy and won’t be inclined to edit. Not to mention the tools that are being created to detect AI content. If you generated the content, someone else could have generated the same so it is best to add a personalized touch. Research the output as well, misinformation will hurt your business both with customers and with platforms (Google, Bing, social media, etc.).
Don’t forget about security.
AI, like any other system online, can be vulnerable to cyber-attacks. It is important to take steps to secure your AI system, if you host it, or your other business systems if you don’t. Use two factor authentication, strong passwords, update your technology stacks/plugins and don’t click on any links.
What to do to Integrate AI in your Business or Project
Invest in AI powered tools/tech.
There are a number of AI-powered tools and solutions available that can help you improve your business operations. For example, AI-powered chatbots can help you provide customer service, AI-powered content generators can help you create high-quality content, and AI-powered marketing platforms can help you target your marketing campaigns more effectively.
Learn as much as possible and train your employees on AI tech.
It is important to learn as much as possible about how AI works, the benefits of certain models, how AI was trained and limitations of the models you are using. This will help you integrate it easily without running into problems because you can’t get the AI to do what it can’t naturally do.
You should also train your employees on how to use AI-powered tools and other solutions. This will help them to be more productive and efficient with those tools, and it will also help them to understand how AI can be used to improve the customer experience.
Be transparent with your customers.
You should tell your customers that you are using AI and how you are doing it. Most likely, they won’t care one way or the other. It just helps you build trust with them.
Be mindful of bias.
Unfortunately, a lot of models have huge bias because of either the data they were trained on, or the people who trained them included their own bias. It’s important to check sources and do your own research to ensure the output is truthful. You could be held liable for misinformation.
